A different kind of camp tradition
Summit balances competition with collaboration and surprise with predictability. Special days retain a recognizable schedule and give campers many ways to participate.
Examples in its published material include Community Spirit Day, Track & Field Day and Summitstock, along with talent shows, international nights and other all-camp gatherings.
Everyone can contribute
Campers may join a dance, perform in a unit play, help create a themed activity or celebrate someone else’s achievement. Summit also describes “shout-outs” that recognize kindness, effort and personal growth.
Traditions are meant to strengthen community and self-esteem, rather than reward only athletic or competitive success.
